LED it be

This talk is about Govinda’s journey from India to Switzerland, where he started a Forbes 30under30 listed start-up in the solar technology field. He was born in a small town in India. He received the Young Scientist Award from the Indian Government at the age of 18 years. After completing his studies in electrical engineering and physics, he received a full scholarship from the EU to do a Master in Sweden and the Netherlands. During his talk, he will share the story behind the four key learnings which changed his life: Adapt fast, Be focused, Challenge yourself and Dream big. He moved to Switzerland for his PhD in smart cities, which he eventually dropped to start his start-up, impacting thousands of people in developing countries.

Govinda Upadhyay is the founder of LEDsafari. LEDsafari is a social start-up based in Lausanne, Switzerland that aims to assimilate clean energy and sustainable innovation education through a unique science and design training centred on creating a solar LED lamp. He is on the Forbes list- Forbes 30 under 30 Europe 2016 for the achievements in Ed-Tech.He is also backed by the EIT (EU) CHANGE AWARD 2015, BITSAA 30 Under 30 Award 2015 and Finalist at Forbes 2015 Change the world award for his work in LEDsafari. He is on the Asia 21 Young leaders 2016 list. He has done three years of research in sustainable city planing in EPFL Lausanne, and obtained his MSc in sustainable technology from TU Eindhoven and KTH Sweden. He also obtained an MSc in physics and BSc in engineering and electronics in India.
