MEDinART, the global network of 130 artists inspired by bio-medical sciences, presents in the frame of Athens Science Festival 2017 the exhibition entitled “MEDinART – where MEDicine and ART collide. Part one: The Greek Αrtists”. Artworks from the following Greek artists of MEDinART will be presented: Mania Efstathiou, Leontios Hadjileontiadis, Keti Haliori, Vasia Hatzi, Christiana Kazakou, Peggy Kliafa, Maria Lambropoulou, Konstantinos N. Patsios, Eleni Petridou, George Vardakis, Sofia Vini, FAME Lab. The MEDinART Video, created in collaboration with ONTIME Productions, presenting the 222 artworks from 74 MEDinART artists from all around the world (www.medinart.eu) will be also screened during the exhibition. Willing to familiarise the general public with a novel form of art and globalise the biomedical-inspired art movement, the exhibition of MEDinART in the Athens Science Festival 2017 will inspire the biomedical scientists, the artists and the general public. MEDinART (www.MEDinART.eu) is a global and continously growing network of 130 artists that are inspired by biomedical sciences. Unique in its content, MEDinART aims to unite the biomedical-inspired artists, trigger the biomedical scientists and artists, educate the general public and globalise the biomedical-inspired art movement. MEDinART was launched at the main stage of TEDMEDLive Athens 2013 and until today it has been presented through video projections and invited talks in International events and conferences in Europe (Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Switzerland), Kazakhstan as well as Saint Louis and Atlanta, USA. MEDinART has been collaborated and co-organised Science/Art events with International art organisations (Andreas Syggros Museum, Fabrica vitae, Vesalius Continuum, BIOMAB, Interalia Magazine-UK, SciArt Magazine-New York) and govenrmental bodies (Embassy of Belgium in Athens, Embassy of Belgium in Astana). Creator, director and curator of MEDinART is Vasia Hatzi, PhD Geneticist.
