The Athens Science Festival goes…digital and returns to the Technopolis City of Athens from 27th to 29th of March 2021 to invite visitors of all ages to discover the fun part of science!
After 6 successful years of bringing together scientists, students, science lovers, businesses, foundations, academia, research centers, etc at Technopolis City of Athens, it is high time the festival adapted to the digital era. Moving the Athens Science Festival to a digital format has been an idea we have been examining over the past years. The COVID-19 restrictions and social distancing measures were therefore the triggers for us to introduce the digital era of the Festival, as a new way of showcasing our events and further expanding our audience across and beyond Greece.
This year the need for reliable scientific information against all conspiracy theories and fake news flooding the internet is more relevant than ever. The festival will showcase a COVID-related theme, in order to inform the broad public on relevant scientific developments, however, will include a large variety of complementary scientific areas of interest. The digital format of the festival will involve a range of live online events, pre-recorded events with live Q&A sessions, participatory workshops, and other novel digital formats.
There is an open call for everyone willing to take part in ASF21 to design interactive workshops, exhibitions, and experiments for visitors to see and take part. Priority, however, will be given to those that stress the importance of the following scientific fields:
Machine Learning | AI | Digital Transformation | Health | Robotics | STEM Education | Environment | Sustainable Development | Art
Meanwhile, a wide variety of topics from science and humanities will be presented by well-known and prestigious academics, researchers, and educators in an intuitive, attractive, and interactive way. Besides, this is the goal of the Athens Science Festival, Greece’s biggest science and innovation event.
