A submersible in Athens Science Festival

10 April, 2014 News

Explore the magic underwater world in Athens Science Festival.

The submersible “Thetis” of the Hellenic Center for Marine Research (H.C.M.R), which is being used in shipwreck research and in submarine archaeology, will be at Technopolis throughout the festival.

In the following video you can see underwater pictures taken from the submersible “Thetis” near Heraklion.

The young visitors of the festival will have the chance to live this submarine experience through a simulation of a submersible from the Greek Oceanographic Association. A transparent cylinder with images and sounds of the sea will “travel” the children in the underwater world through video recordings of real submersibles which explore underwater shipwrecks, tropical fishes and coral reefs.
