28 March, 2021 News

If innovation is useful, then social innovation -which “bridges” the results of scientific innovation with the actual needs of the society- should be twice as that.

During their talk at the Athens Science Festival platform, Despoina Chalvatzi, SciFY’s Programme & Project Manager, Georgios Megas, Triple Transition & Innovation Manager, and Dionissis Mavraganis, IΤ consultant, Social Entrepreneur will demonstrate the great importance of social innovation in critical crisis management.

By describing the reaction to a real tragedy for Greece, the devastating fire at Mati, where more than a hundred people perished, the distinguished speakers will highlight the proposals and solutions of Fireathon, a social innovation initiative whose goal is to prevent the spread of fires through citizen cooperation. According to the speakers, the solutions of the Fireathon are now ready to be implemented. In doing so, we can learn from our mistakes, and such tragedies will never happen again.

The discussion is supported by Bayer Hellas and will be monitored by journalist Yannis Rizopoulos.
