In the spring of 2014 the Athens Science Festival bacame a reality. Its theme that year was “Science in our everyday lives”.

Visitors in the first Science and Innovation Festival ever held in Greece discovered the science behind all aspects of our everyday lives. Pozing the simplest yet most amazing questions, researchers, distinguished Greek and international scientists, teachers, children and artists alike reminded us that science is everywhere around us. .

Will our children live for 120 years?
To vaccinate or not?
Can we predict earthquakes?
What is the sound of Space?
What is the connection between quantum Physics and a plum cake?
Has God Particle finally been found?

These were just a few of the questions the 1st Athens Science Festival attempted to respond to. The 1st Athens Science Festival was held in Technopolis, Athens from 30 April to 4 May 2014 and it was jointly organised by the educational organisation “Science Communication – SciCo”, the British Council, Onassis Scholars’ Association, under the auspices of the City of Athens, supported by Technopolis and in collaboration with a variety of academic, research and educational insittutes.
