Stylianos Antonarakis | The human genome in health and disease

The human genome is a vast but finite text of information and instructions for the life of each cell and organism. The genome is polymorphic because mutations occur continuously every time a new cell or organism is created. This polymorphism results in each person having their own unique genome that does not resemble that of any other person.
This diversity is significant for the numerous diseases of the human species. Understanding the mysteries of genome function opens doors to targeted therapies.
