Testing textiles
The ability to identify the composition of the fabrics by ordinary consumers, is an important and useful tool for the proper selection of a fabric for a particular end use. This becomes more important when consumers are people in the fashion industry, and the use of fabrics for apparel serves a professional purpose. In this workshop you will learn how to identify fabrics with a simple test, the combustion test, examining the behavior of the fabrics at the various stages of the test, such as during approach and removal from the flame, the odor emerging, the residue left etc.
