Can you drink the rainwater? Can be sewage used as raw material? The research project HYDROUSA studies how different sources of water and wastewater can be combined to create a circular economy model with traditional and modern methods in Mediterranean islands. We develop biomimicry techniques and nature based technologies for water management. In the Athens Science Festival we present how a structure with different layers of sand develops microorganisms which treat the rainwater and produces potable water.
