From Pisum sativum to CSI

Genetics is the sector of Biology that studies the entity of genes, heredity and the genetic biodiversity, and studies systems from the subcellular level up to a population of organisms. Besides the study of the structure, the distribution and the diversity of genes, research is also performed for the utilisation of genes to benefit humans. Genetic studies are performed in a variety of organisms, from bacteria to animals. These studies have numerous applications in therapeutics, as well as in genetic alteration of organisms for human prosperity
