Plants: what can our silent partners tell us about life?

Stop by our stand to meet the major taxonomic groups of the plants (bryophytes, peridophytes, gymnosperms, and angiosperms). Observe through a microscope the inside of a leaf, see its chloroplasts that capture the energy from light and convert it to chemical energy. Why do green peppers turn red? You can also observe plant cells in mitosis, where the chromosomes are formed, as well as seedlings directing their roots down and their shoots up no matter how the seed was initially oriented to grow. How does a plant respond to gravity? How can we estimate the age of a tree and what does a tree ring exactly represent?
