Billie Kark: Electronic music, traditional songs, dancing fairies and elves at the Athens Science Festival 2024

Billie Kark brings her experimental music project to the ASF, providing musical tradition with a new, powerful voice through technology

Has technology killed musical tradition?  Or has it simply given it a powerful new voice? And what connection could these questions have to the largest and longest-running science and technology festival in Athens?

The answers will be given at the Athens Science Festival 2024: The city’s beloved festival, which returns to the Technopolis City of Athens from April 16 to 21, 2024 with exciting “Tales of Change”. Captivating stories around science, technology and innovation, narrated by charismatic storytellers in a great six-day celebration.

Among these storytellers, Billie Kark, is a Greek artist who combines electronic music with Greek folk songs. A rather unexpected combination that was born in the vivid imagination of the young creator. Drawing inspiration from nature and tradition, and experimenting with themes such as freedom, death and rebirth, Billie Kark with her laptop, keyboard and processors, creates melodies and sounds, sometimes ethereal and atmospheric, and other times dark and mysterious.

And through her performance at the ASF, she wishes to transport us to a world full of mythical creatures, such as fairies and other forest spirits, and help us get lost in our own imagination while dancing! As she will do herself!

Billie Kark will appear at the Athens Science Festival on Friday, April 19 at 9:00 pm, in the central courtyard of the Technopolis City of Athens.
