George Lyras: “Dinosaurs in the Movies”

The title alone causes excitement! Everyone’s first thought -for sure- goes to a well-known action movie!

Dr George Lyras, vertebrate palaeontologist, comes to Athens Science Festival and present the cinematic dinosaurs in a
series of movies, from the Lost World (1925) to Jurassic World Dominion (2022). He will point out some common mistakes in the dinosaur movies and will present our current scientific understanding of these iconic animals. 

What is a dinosaur anyway? How accurately are dinosaurs depicted in the movies?  

Believers and dinosaur lovers, and as long as you are older than 10 years old, come and learn what you didn’t know about them!

He is a vertebrate paleontologist. His research focuses on the study of mammalian evolution. He has excavated in many sites in Greece and abroad. He is Associate Professor, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
