What’s new on smoking?

Smoking is a disease and an addiction. The tobacco epidemic is one of the biggest public health threats the world has ever faced. The smoking reduction in Europe is significant and is attempted with the action of all Member States of the European Union, within the framework of the World Health Organization. In Greece, there has been a dramatic fall in smoking recently, especially in young ages, accompanied by a change in public attitude towards tobacco use. In particular, smoking prevalence is 27% today, while the annual consumption of cigarettes has been reduced by 49% during the last decade.
