Why, you ask? Because the Athens Science Festival, the city’s most prominent and longest-running science and technology festival, is returning from April 16 to 21, 2024, featuring an array of activities brimming with fun, imagination, and creativity for children of all ages!

Sustainability, Science, Experiments & Fun

How well do you know Sustainability, Science, and Experiments? Challenge yourself in “Give me Five!” The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center’s school programs will take over the main courtyard of the Athens Science Festival, turning it into a giant knowledge-based board game of epic proportions and unique excitement!

Funky Dragon Space brings fun to the ASF with the workshop “Funky Polargraph: a drawing machine” and invites children to discover how art meets technology by creating their own interactive Polargraph. A vertical printer that “reads” the artist’s position and translates it into brush strokes! Arduino, distance sensors, motors, and markers come together in a hands-on workshop, inspiring children to explore and experiment with geometry, mechanics, electronics, and programming.

Something’s Baking in the Old Bakery of Technopolis

Time travel may not be possible – yet – but with a little STEAM, creativity, and imagination, at ASF 2024, our kids can become “Architects of Time Travel”! In the interactive workshop organized by the NGO Imagine Heritage and Platon Schools, children will design and build miniature replicas of the Herodion. Using simple materials, they’ll study the mechanical and scientific principles behind their creations, while also learning everything about the ancient theater.

Saturday, April 20 | 11:00 – 11:45 | OLD BAKERY

Do you read fairy tales with your kids? Then the Social Cooperative Enterprise “Logos Proforikos” has something interesting for you. Through “Around-fairy tales”, a rich tapestry of stories about Greece’s and the world’s oral tradition will be unraveled, highlighting the importance of respecting nature and our harmonious relationship with all living beings.

Got any spare paper? Don’t throw it away! Join the “Origami” workshop organized by the Association of Environmental Scientists of Greece. During the workshop, children are encouraged to repurpose papers that have “completed their first mission” to create beautiful origami artworks!
