Game On: Building a career in the gaming industry

25 September, 2023 News

Do we really know what digital gaming entails and what professional opportunities the field offers? How easy is it for a woman to pursue a career in the industry?

At the Athens Science Festival on Wednesday, October 11th, we will have the opportunity to attend a discussion among female professionals and researchers active in the digital gaming industry, who are part of the professional network of gi-Cluster.

Athena Polina Dova, co-founder and COO of Owiwi, began her journey in Law School. Katerina Mataraga started at the Department of Physics and is now a co-founder and Game Programmer at Traptics. Christina Chrysanthopoulou is a PhD candidate at the School of Film at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and works as an artist/consultant for companies that develop interactive applications, particularly in the field of augmented reality. How did these accomplished scientists manage to reach the same goal, following very different paths, and excel in a male-dominated field?

They will talk to us about what motivated them to enter the field and how you can achieve your dreams, regardless of your starting point!

The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Elina Roinioti, Assistant Professor at the Department of Performing and Digital Arts of the University of Peloponnese and member of the European Games Outreach team of Kickstarter and Networking and Communication Manager at gi-Cluster.

Come to the Athens Science Festival, where inspiration meets Science and becomes a driving force for all of us!
