Attention adults! You are welcome at the Athens Science Festival, but on the weekend of April 20 & 21 the children will enter their own “camp” of imagination and creativity. With a wide range of STEAM activities and workshops that seek the participation of our little friends in order to fulfill their mission: To help them imagine tomorrow, through the wonderful world of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics.
Starting from the “combination” of technology and art, in the Explorativa workshop “Light painting“, where painting meets photography and dance. Children are invited to dance, move around, spin and roll according to their imagination and set different objects in motion. Then they will capture in photos the trajectories of their movements!

On the other hand, what does literature have to do with Medicine? According to the “Nanomed Ηeroes“ they are the meeting point of an interactive game that wants Penelope to be besieged by “cancer-suitors”. In the workshop designed by the iGem Patras team, children will become Odysseus’ allies in order to equip him with liposome technology. They will then help Penelope free herself from the aggressive “cancer-suitors” and learn more about the resourceful organisms that make up the fascinating world of Biology.

Through “Enviro-tales” we will unravel a tangle of stories surrounding the rich oral tradition of Greece and the world, highlighting the importance of our respect for nature and our harmonious relationship with all living beings.

The National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” invites our little friends to a “mythological” workshop. During the workshop entitled “Discovering the Atom.. with Democritus!“ the children will “travel” back in time to meet Democritus. Together with the great Greek philosopher, who discovered the atomic theory, they will explore and understand the world of atoms through interactive group play, various activities and constructions.

Knowledge and skills around 3D printing technology are already essential in many fields – from medicine to construction or art. Why not also in education? Through the “3D Design Workshop” created by The Inventors Academy of Robotics and Innovation, young participants will have the opportunity to craft their own tools using the online 3D design platform Onshape. And let their imagination run free in order to bring their ideas to life, in an experiential adventure in the world of 3D design and engineering.
