The International Children’s Fine Arts Exhibition Lidice has been taking place every year since 1973, and this year it comes to the heart of Athens, in Technopolis, as part of the Athens Science Festival.

This is one of the largest exhibitions of children’s artistic output. It was founded to commemorate the children murdered by German Nazis in 1942, as well as all other children who died in wars. During the years of activity, has been well-known among children and teachers in our country and abroad while attracting thousands of children from all continents every year. In 2018, the exhibition received the Gratias Agit award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for spreading the good name of the Czech Republic abroad.

Each year, the main theme of the exhibition is recommended by the Czech Commission for UNESCO. The theme CHEMISTRY was chosen for the 47th year!

As a matter of fact, in 2019 it has been 150 years since Mendeleev’s periodic table of elements, one of the pillars of modern chemistry, saw the light of day.

The exhibition is also a competition, and it is open to the participation of children from 4 to 16 years of age. In the 47th year, an expert panel of judges was selected from 15,336 entries from 70 countries. The award-winning entries are on display at the Lidice Gallery in Lidice and recently also at Prague museums from June to November. As soon as the exhibition has ended, individual collections will be put on loan to a number of venues in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The exhibition is launched and organized by the Lidice Memorial with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Youth & Sports, the Czech Commission for UNESCO, and the Czech Centers.
