MARCH: Innovation in the classroom

2 April, 2016 News

The way students “meet” with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics and Maths is usually an experience they remember for life. When asked what inspired them to follow their career path, scientists and researchers often give the same answer: a good teacher, a curiosity-provoking activity, a different approach in science teaching.

MARCH European network (MAke science Real in sCHools) aims to disseminate innovative science teaching practices in schools all over Europe. It consists of nine partners (UK, Greece, Germany, Serbia, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Portugal).

During the first two years of the programme, good practices from teachers in all the above countries were collected and are presented in a two-hour workshop during Athens Science Festival, in order to inspire and engage secondary school teachers to bring them in their own classrooms.

Imagine a flipping classroom, where lecture is done at home and activities, exercises and questions are done in the class in a cooperative way. Imagine the photosynthesis lesson implemented outside the classroom. Imagine blending science with art, comic books, theatre, new media with the active participation and of students who co-create in teams and with their teacher. All these are already taking place in schools in Europe and MARCH will bring them to your attention in this workshop. In addition, the projects Inspiring Science and Go Lab will be also presented, from the Scientix Ambassador in Greece.

The workshop is addressed to teachers of STEM in secondary schools. Capacity: 30 places. Book your seat here.
