Pushing the edge of the cosmic frontier with JWST astrophysicist Jeyhan Kartaltepe

27 March, 2024 News

How was the cosmos created? Where did it start and where does it end? For millennia, humanity has pondered and philosophized about the origin of our universe. However, it was only a few decades ago that its scientific investigation became possible. And through inventions such as the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescopes, we now have valuable information about the history of its genesis.

This information was processed and taken one step further by the pioneering scientists, men, and women, engaged in space research. Like Dr. Jeyhan Kartaltepe, the distinguished astrophysicist who, through her talk at the Athens Science Festival “Pushing the Edge of the Cosmic Frontier with JWST”, will guide us on the early universe through the paths of research.

The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) became operational two years ago, “feeding” humanity with incredible images from the depths of the galaxy and providing the scientific community with the first pieces of a map of the earliest structures of the universe. And as part of the research, she is conducting with it, Dr. Kartaltepe, will show us how the JWST has pushed our cosmic frontier beyond what was possible with Hubble. She will also talk about the implications of these discoveries for understanding the origin of the universe.
