“Rollercoasting from Google Maps to Angel investing”: An extraordinaire Tale of Change by Lars Rasmussen

Who hasn’t used Google Maps at least once in their life to navigate around a city, a foreign country, or even in their own neighborhood? It is an iconic app that has dramatically changed for the better the way billions of people move. And we owe it to two brothers from Denmark, Lars and Jens Rasmussen.

One of the two siblings, Lars Rasmussen, is now a permanent resident of Greece, and invites you to the Athens Science Festival 2024 in order to share a fascinating Tale of Change!

In his speech, entitled “Rollercoasting from Google Maps to Angel investing”, Lars will be our guide on a ride featuring various “highs and lows”: From academia to co-founding Google Maps, to early-stage startup investing around the world. In between, he will make some stops at iconic technology companies such as Facebook and Canva, as well as rising stars such as Astranis, Chiaro, Neara, and Protio.

About Lars Rasmussen

Lars Rasmussen is a technology angel investor and early-stage startup advisor based in Athens, Greece. He holds a Ph.D. in theoretical computer science from UC Berkeley in California and has held various senior positions at technology giants such as Google and Facebook. In his spare time, he enjoys boating the Greek Islands, and drinking his favorite coffee.
