2014-2024: Ten Years Science on “Stage”! Science … in a different way
Science Reactors, a group of young scientists founded in 2014, attempt to prove in an unconventional way how much humor science and scientists can provide.
In the form of Stand up Science and in the footsteps of Stand-up comedy, they present simple scientific topics with fun, eloquence and clarity, highlighting their talent in communicating science but mainly their love and passion for it.
But let’s take a look back at their ten-year journey:
In 2024, this unconventional team celebrates a ten-year course in the field of science communication. So, they return to Technopolis and the Athens Science Festival, the place from where they actually “sprang”. There they gave their first performances, there they presented another “face” of science, there they gained their numerous friends, who laughed with them, “talked”, were puzzled and listened with eloquence and humor to scientific issues of our daily lives.
At first, it took them some time to find their right footing. They acquired their name (Science Reactors), came up with their communication tool with the public (Stand up), then staged their own theatrical performances (Science on stage) and finally decided to deal with younger ages (Stand up science kids).
During all this time their team is constantly renewed with new faces, many of the founding members were absorbed by the brain drain and others went their own way. They gave and continue to give a “bold” presence in major scientific events throughout Greece, organized their own presentations in cultural venues and theaters, thus gaining many fanatical friends. They combined Art with Science and continue always serving the same goal: the communication of science and the dissemination of knowledge in a simple, enjoyable and humorous way without humor becoming an end in itself!!
So can they disprove the myth that scientists lack humor? They will prove it on the stage.
