5 April, 2024 News

Although the Periodic Table of chemical elements, is a troubling, elementary knowledge for students, Chemistry is actually one of the most entertaining sciences. And approaching it through experiential experiments involving combustions, explosions and chemical reactions can have truly “magical” effects!

This is exactly what Hassun El-Zafar, a passionate science engager, is determined to do: spread his love of Chemistry to the entire world. And driven by this mission, he’s coming to the Athens Science Festival to unveil the magic of his beloved science to both young and mature audiences.

What happens when oxygen combusts? Can a gas cause an explosion? How is nitrogen different from its liquid “brother”? What’s up with dry ice and its sublimation properties? And, what about metals?

Through his performances entitled “The Amazing World of Gases” and “The Explosive Periodic Table”, Hassun El-Zafar will be our guide on a tour of the labyrinthine landscapes of the periodic table. And as we unravel the fascinating secrets of gases and metals, through an exhilarating journey with real-world applications, we’ll discover the crucial role of Chemistry in various industries, from space exploration to medical advancements.

Magic or Chemistry? The amazing world of gases meets the “explosive” Periodic Table in a show about the magic of Chemistry at the Athens Science Festival! Come, and explore a beloved science while having fun, with Hassun El-Zafar and his amazing experiments and spectacular visual effects, in a show designed to inspire a deeper appreciation for the unseen forces that shape our world.
