“The Mad Scientist” meets “Tech to me About it” at ASF23!

20 September, 2023 News

What can happen when two top YouTubers – science and technology enthusiasts – get together? How can Artificial Intelligence be related to fake news and misinformation? Can we control the “tools” we ourselves have created?

We invite you to the Auditorium of the Technopolis City of Athens, on Tuesday, October 10th during the festival’s grand opening (beginning at 19:00), to enjoy a unique discussion between The Mad Scientist and Tech to me About it. In this special conversation titled “AI and Pseudoscience: Enemy and Tool in the Battle Against Misinformation”, we will explore how Artificial Intelligence contributes to the spread of false news – mainly related to scientific matters. How can we reshape this “tool” to turn it into our ally in an era of widespread misinformation?

Stamos Archontis holds a degree in Chemistry from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has been actively involved in science communication since 2016. He created a YouTube channel called “The Mad Scientist” to debunk pseudoscientific claims and provide the public with accurate information on science-related topics. Additionally, he is a journalist and fact checker for Ellinika Hoaxes.

Fotios Zantalis is an Electronic Engineer currently pursuing his Ph.D. at the University of Western Attica, where he focuses on the research field of Artificial Intelligence on applications of the Internet of Things. His profound interest in technology and his eagerness to convey his passion for this field led him to create content on YouTube, where he is known as “Tech to me About it”.

When two outstanding science communicators share a stage, the outcome promises to be enchanting! Join us for an enjoyable, contemplative experience that will enhance our comprehension of issues relevant to all of us.
