How familiar are you with concepts such as Extended reality (XR), Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI)? What do you know about their integration into education and the ways they can change the overall teaching experience, both for educators and for students? At the 2024 Athens Science Festival, we unveil the Workshops of Change, tailored for educators, dedicated to seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technologies into the classroom experience.
COSMOTE, the Platinum Sponsor of the Athens Science Festival 2024, presents the workshop “COSMOTE CHRONOS – Augmented Reality in Education”. COSMOTE CHRONOS is an application that, using advanced technologies, offers users the opportunity to admire the Acropolis and other monuments that adorned Athens at the height of its glory. Guided by the example of COSMOTE CHRONOS, participants in the one-hour workshop will have the opportunity to explore cutting-edge technologies such as VR, AR and AI. But also to understand how they could use them to transform the educational process and adopt a more creative and effective way of learning.
On the other hand, the workshop designed by the Athena Research Center will present ChatGPT, the open AI chatbot that aims to become our personal assistant. Entitled “Education and ChatGPT”, the workshop is aimed at educators who want to delve deeper into new AI applications. Teachers will have the opportunity to interact with an AI conversational assistant in real activities related to their teaching duties.
In order to create music, you don’t necessarily need instruments: You can produce any sound with everyday objects, such as your coffee cup, a pencil, or anything else you may have with you during the workshop “Playing Music with Artificial Intelligence”. Through the workshop, which is organized by the Ionian University and the company Island Sounds, there will be highlighted the creative side of a tool that, that it is entertaining and has the potential to dramatically change education.
The workshop “Artificial intelligence and educators: Friends or foes?” focuses specifically on the use of AI in education. The team of the European Project augMENTOR, invites you to a creative exchange of ideas and information on how AI can enhance and update existing teaching practices.
Finally, the use of XR, which can create a new educational experience for students, will be presented to us through the specially designed workshop ‘XR in Education: The Future of Learning?’ The European project XR4ED, which promotes learning through cutting-edge technologies and tools, invites us to transform abstract knowledge into practical experience and skills.
